Detroit: 10 Things to Do

It's hard to think of the Motor City — a popular symbol of urban decay — as a vacation destination. But somewhere behind its neglected, graffiti-covered skyscrapers are charming reminders of a city that was once among the world's wealthiest. Today, rows of homes and stores that had been abandoned for decades are finally being demolished, making way for lush green spaces that give some sections of the city an odd rural vibe. Several new hotels, restaurants and art galleries have the potential to burnish Detroit's image further and revitalize the downtown area.

Detroit's premier event is, of course, the North American International Auto Show, held each January — but that's hardly the most appealing time to visit the Midwest. So unless you're an auto-industry exec, advertiser or journalist, it's better to visit Detroit in summer. Toward the end of the season, in August, you can catch the Woodward Dream Cruise, a one-day, multi-city celebration of the automobile, replete with parades, music and food. Or visit over Labor Day weekend for the annual Detroit International Jazz Festival. In any season, Detroit is a sports mecca, so be sure to catch a Tigers, Red Wings or Lions game during your stay. Opening Day!

Let's bring back some memories as we will be closing our office down tomorrow to enjoy our Annual Opening Day celebration! Modern Marketing Detroit will be going downtown to eat some great barbecue, play some games, and enjoy great company before we head into the stadium to enjoy the Tigers play. Every year, our Director loves to plan a team building event for all of his Executives in his office to thank them for all of their hard work. Everyone had a great time last year and now we are ready for a much better time this year!

Benjamin Workman ETL Promotion!

Modern Marketing Detroit believes that there is nothing better than to see others develop into being a better entrepreneur to hit their goals. Today is an extremely special day here at Modern Marketing Detroit as we will like to announce our newest Executive Team Lead Benjamin Workman! He is a step closer to our Assistant Director position and much bigger and better things are coming our way! We are proud of our teams dynamic of coming together to make this promotion happen. 

Mr. Workman first stepped into the doors of Modern Marketing Detroit on July 30, 2015 and in just only 7 months here, he has already gotten promoted twice. Mr. Workman went to Central Michigan University majoring in Bachelor of Science in Business as well as continuing his education for his Masters at Ashford University. He is also known as the the accountant for the executives at Moderns during tax season. Thanks for being a part of the Modern Team Ben!

Office Night 4.30.2015

Yesterday we got the chance to network with a couple of the directors who came up for their Directors Refreshers this week and it was also our weekly family time also known as office night. The office ended up going to our Director Dustin’s place for a small cook out with some brats and burgers, to have a cupcake or two, watch the draft, and to play a game. The room was filled with throwback stories, laughter, and great energy for a memorable night.

We got the chance to kick off the month of May by celebrating a bonus, a promotion, and many birthdays. Daumauria, Avery, Neika’s daughter, and Cody all enjoyed their birthday month kick off and their chocolate cupcake. D had more than just his birthday on his mind; he was extremely excited about his promotion. D is currently our newest Executive Team Trainer here at Modern; that’s definitely not a bad birthday present. We also got the chance to get some coaching advice from Rob who runs one of the top organizations in our company, so we would say that Thursday wasn't a bad day at all this week at the office.

Every week, there's always a day where we look forward to the most. Whether it's a day where we know the weekend is half-way here, the Manny Pacquiao & Floyd Mayweather super fight this Saturday evening at your favorite sports bar, any other events that you may have going on like the Kentucky Derby this upcoming weekend, or just a Sunday fun-day.
